The deliciously named Alania Vladikavkaz are from the very southern tip of Russia. As a club I don't know much about them other than they were hammered by Glasgow Rangers in a Champions League qualifier in the early 1990s. Apparently like a few other clubs in Russia, Alania went bankrupt. they then reformed as Spartak Vladikavkaz and then changed their name back to Alania. The shirt is good quality despite looking suspiciously like Partick Thistle. It's interesting to see the shield design on the back of the shirt to accommodate a number. This is an idea tried out without much success by Adidas in the early 2000s. I think this one looks better than Adidas' attempt to use this design. You're probably not surprised to read that this shirt found it's way into the museum via our Russian acquisitions agent, Anton (www.soccer-collection.narod.ru) Click on his picture at the top right of the screen to see his website and his own very impressive collection.
