Avai, from Florianopolis in Brazil are, I think I am correct in saying the only club in the collection who are named after a battle in the Paraguayan War (1864-70). I won't go into the details of this as the site is about football shirts, not South American battles. The shirt itself is a very impressive bit of work from Penalty and while it's not groundbreaking design it's a classic look. Just as an aside the sponsor "Portobello" is a Brazilian tile manufacturer, not a small town near Edinburgh. Avai's city rivals are Figueirense. Personally I'd back Figueirense as they look more like St Mirren.
